Neither at collegiate or post-graduate levels are future and current mental health care professionals given guidelines on how to effectively – and profitably – run a successful practice using proven business principles. Highly-successful psychologist Dr. Larry Waldman’s latest book, The Graduate Course You Never Had, fills that void. He covers all aspects of growing a profitable business.
The Graduate Course You Never Had edition by Larry Waldman Health Fitness Dieting eBooks
This is a good book. I read it instead of attending the workshop. It talks about pitfalls of managed care insurance and the psychology that affects the clients. It seems that the author wants to infuse and boost the self esteem of the therapist practice and how the counselor could make more money through different lines of passive and active income. If you are a counselor, it is a good and easy read that will give you lots of information of some pitfalls of private practice.Product details

The Graduate Course You Never Had edition by Larry Waldman Health Fitness Dieting eBooks Reviews
Dr. Waldman's book, "The Graduate Course You Never Had," is written in a straight-forward manner.
His examples are realistic and relevant.
Waldman speaks the truth that most mental health professionals are poor businesspersons; they do not
understand the business side of their business. Maintaining a successful private practice not only demands
good clinical skills but it also requires solid business skills--which Waldman says can be learned.
Many of the ideas discussed in this book could--and should--be applied to just about any business venture.
I found the sections on Necessary Practice Management Concepts, Valuing Your Service, Effective
Marketing Strategies, and Non-Traditional Methods of Producing Income to be especially insightful and
useful. Any mental health practitioner or any young entrepreneur would benefit from closely reviewing
Waldman's book.
I was in administration and on the faculty of a prestigious mid-west teaching hospital and medical school. Perks included a high salary, a 30hr week, paid premium family health insurance, generous retirement, paid 6-weeks vacation, paid sick leave, etc. and the promise of four years paid college for each of my four children. It's the mid 1980's and I leave the comfort, safety, and security of the "brick mother". Private practice beckons. The fantasy was this is going to be like a "Skinner box", put in 50 min., press the lever, $$ will come to you, and you press until fatiqued; recover and start pressing again (lots of $$$). Suddenly I am working over 60hrs/week, every evening, and Saturdays. I am taking money from my savings and borrowing money to survive. I look around and cohorts in group practice are suing owners of clinics for $1.5K++,for money not received for professional services rendered. Many clinician/owners are "social working" their support staff rather than teaching them billing skills (CPT-Codes and ICD-9 Codes, etc)or how to do business. Many support staff are describing their jobs as "just opening envelopes", rather than knowing why a claim or balance goes unpaid. WHERE WAS DR. WALMAN'S BOOK THEN???
